Sonnet Xxxvii. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFGEFGThe poet's fancy takes from Flora's realm | A |
Her buds and leaves to dress fictitious powers | B |
With the green olive shades Minerva's helm | A |
And give to Beauty's queen the queen of flowers | B |
But what gay blossoms of luxuriant spring | C |
With rose mimosa amaranth entwined | D |
Shall fabled Sylphs and fairy people bring | C |
As a just emblem of the lovely mind | D |
In vain the mimic pencil tries to blend | E |
The glowing dyes that dress the flowery race | F |
Scented and colour'd by a hand divine | G |
Ah not less vainly would the Muse pretend | E |
On her weak lyre to sing the native grace | F |
And native goodness of a soul like thine | G |
