Sonnet Xxxvii. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFGEFG

The poet's fancy takes from Flora's realmA
Her buds and leaves to dress fictitious powersB
With the green olive shades Minerva's helmA
And give to Beauty's queen the queen of flowersB
But what gay blossoms of luxuriant springC
With rose mimosa amaranth entwinedD
Shall fabled Sylphs and fairy people bringC
As a just emblem of the lovely mindD
In vain the mimic pencil tries to blendE
The glowing dyes that dress the flowery raceF
Scented and colour'd by a hand divineG
Ah not less vainly would the Muse pretendE
On her weak lyre to sing the native graceF
And native goodness of a soul like thineG
