Sonnet Xlvi. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBCBDBDDEDEFF

Written at Penhurst in AutumnA
YE towers sublime deserted now and drearB
Ye woods deep sighing to the hollow blastC
The musing wanderer loves to linger nearB
While History points to all your glories pastC
And startling from their haunts the timid deerB
To trace the walks obscured by matted fernD
Which Waller's soothing lyre were wont to hearB
But where now clamours the discordant hernD
The spoiling hand of Time may overturnD
These lofty battlements and quite defaceE
The fading canvass whence we love to learnD
Sydney's keen look and Sacharissa's graceE
But fame and beauty still defy decayF
Saved by the historic page the poet's tender layF
