Sonnet Xliv: Press'd By The Moon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCECCEDD

Press'd by the Moon mute arbitress of tidesA
While the loud equinox its power combinesB
The sea no more its swelling surge confinesB
But o'er the shrinking land sublimely ridesA
The wild blast rising from the Western caveC
Drives the huge billows from their heaving bedD
Tears from their grassy tombs the village deadD
And breaks the silent sabbath of the graveC
With shells and sea weed mingled on the shoreE
Lo their bones whiten in the frequent waveC
But vain to them the winds and waters raveC
They hear the warring elements no moreE
While I am doom'd by life's long storm opprestD
To gaze with envy on their gloomy restD
