Sonnet Xl. From The Same. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFGFHI

FAR on the sands the low retiring tideA
In distant murmurs hardly seems to flowB
And o'er the world of waters blue and wideA
The sighing summer wind forgets to blowB
As sinks the day star in the rosy westC
The silent wave with rich reflection glowsD
Alas can tranquil nature give me restC
Or scenes of beauty soothe me to reposeD
Can the soft lustre of the sleeping mainE
Yon radiant heaven or all creation's charmsF
'Erase the written troubles of the brain 'G
Which memory tortures and which guilt alarmsF
Or bid a bosom transient quiet proveH
That bleeds with vain remorse and unextinguish'd loveI
