Sonnet Xi. To Sleep Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEGHH

COME balmy Sleep tired nature's soft resortA
On these sad temples all thy poppies shedB
And bid gay dreams from Morpheus' airy courtA
Float in light vision round my aching headB
Secure of all thy blessings partial PowerC
On his hard bed the peasant throws him downD
And the poor sea boy in the rudest hourC
Enjoys thee more than he who wears a crownD
Clasp'd in her faithful shepherd's guardian armsE
Well may the village girl sweet slumbers proveF
And they O gentle Sleep still taste thy charmsE
Who wake to labour liberty and loveG
But still thy opiate aid dost thou denyH
To calm the anxious breast to close the streaming eyeH
