Sonnet Vii: Sweet Poet Of The Woods Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDEFGFGHI

Sweet poet of the woods a long adieuA
Farewel soft minstrel of the early yearB
Ah 'twill be long ere thou shalt sing anewA
And pour thy music on the 'night's dull ear 'C
Whether on spring thy wandering flights awaitD
Or whether silent in our groves ye dwellE
The pensive muse shall own thee for her mateD
And still protect the song she loves so wellE
With cautious step the love lorn youth shall glideF
Thro' the lone brake that shades thy mossy nestG
And shepherd girls from eyes profane shall hideF
The gentle bird who sings of pity bestG
For still thy voice shall soft affections moveH
And still be dear to sorrow and to loveI
