Sonnet Lxxi. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCEFEFGHGHIJ| Written at Weymouth in winter | A |
| THE chill waves whiten in the sharp North east | B |
| Cold cold the night blast comes with sullen sound | C |
| And black and gloomy like my cheerless breast | D |
| Frowns the dark pier and lonely sea view round | C |
| Yet a few months and on the peopled strand | E |
| Pleasure shall all her varied forms display | F |
| Nymphs lightly tread the bright reflecting sand | E |
| And proud sails whiten all the summer bay | F |
| Then from these winds that whistle keen and bleak | G |
| Music's delightful melodies shall float | H |
| O'er the blue waters but 'tis mine to seek | G |
| Rather some unfrequented shade remote | H |
| From sights and sounds of gaiety I mourn | I |
| All that gave me delight Ah never to return | J |
