Song I Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A ABABCDCE FGFGHIHI AJAJDADA

FROM THE FRENCH OF CARDINAL BERNISA
I-
FRUIT of Aurora's tears fair roseA
On whose soft leaves fond zephyrs playB
Oh queen of flowers thy buds discloseA
And give thy fragrance to the dayB
Unveil thy transient charms ah noC
A little be thy bloom delay'dD
Since the same hour that bids thee blowC
Shall see thee droop thy languid headE
-
II-
But go and on Themira's breastF
Find happy flower thy throne and tombG
While jealous of a fate so blestF
How shall I envy thee thy doomG
Should some rude hand approach thee thereH
Guard the sweet shrine thou wilt adornI
Ah punish those who rashly dareH
And for my rivals keep thy thornI
-
III-
Love shall himself thy boughs composeA
And bid thy wanton leaves divideJ
He'll show thee how my lovely roseA
To deck her bosom not to hideJ
And thou shalt tell the cruel maidD
How frail are youth and beauty's charmsA
And teach her ere her own shall fadeD
To give them to her lover's armsA
