Rhyme Scheme: ABCBAB DEDEDE FGFGFG AHAHAH IEJEJE KLKLKL MNMNMN OPMPQP

O what harper could worthily harp itA
Mine Edward this wide stretching woldB
Look out wold with its wonderful carpetC
Of emerald purple and goldB
Look well at it also look sharp itA
Is getting so coldB
-
The purple is heather ericaD
The yellow gorse call'd sometimes whinE
Cruel boys on its prickles might spike aD
Green beetle as if on a pinE
You may roll in it if you would like aD
Few holes in your skinE
-
You wouldn't Then think of how kind youF
Should be to the insects who craveG
Your compassion and then look behind youF
At you barley ears Don't they look braveG
As they undulate undulate mind youF
From unda a waveG
-
The noise of those sheep bells how faint itA
Sounds here on account of our heightH
And this hillock itself who could paint itA
With its changes of shadow and lightH
Is it not never Eddy say ain't itA
A marvellous sightH
-
Then yon desolate eerie morassesI
The haunts of the snipe and the hernE
I shall question the two upper classesJ
On aquatiles when we returnE
Why I see on them absolute massesJ
Of filix or fernE
-
How it interests e'en a beginnerK
Or tiro like dear little NedL
Is he listening As I am a sinnerK
He's asleep he is wagging his headL
Wake up I'll go home to my dinnerK
And you to your bedL
-
The boundless ineffable prairieM
The splendour of mountain and lakeN
With their hues that seem ever to varyM
The mighty pine forests which shakeN
In the wind and in which the unwaryM
May tread on a snakeN
-
And this wold with its heathery garmentO
Are themes undeniably greatP
But although there is not any harm in'tM
It's perhaps little good to dilateP
On their charms to a dull little varmintQ
Of seven or eightP
