In Memoriam. - Cvi Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCA DEEE EFFE GHHG IJJK L HEFH HHEL EGLH EEEG LEHM

The time admits not flowers or leavesA
To deck the banquet Fiercely fliesB
The blast of North and East and iceC
Makes daggers at the sharpen'd eavesA
-
And bristles all the brakes and thornsD
To yon hard crescent as she hangsE
Above the wood which grides and clangsE
Its leafless ribs and iron hornsE
-
Together in the drifts that passE
To darken on the rolling brineF
That breaks the coast But fetch the wineF
Arrange the board and brim the glassE
-
Bring in great logs and let them lieG
To make a solid core of heatH
Be cheerful minded talk and treatH
Of all things ev'n as he were byG
-
We keep the day with festal cheerI
With books and music Surely weJ
Will drink to him whate'er he beJ
And sing the songs he loved to hearK

Non hora myrto non violis sinitH
Nitere mensas Trux Aquilo forasE
Bacchatur ac passim pruinaF
Tigna sagittifera coruscantH

Horretque saltus spinifer algidaeH
Sub falce lunae dum nemori imminetH
Quod stridet illiditque costisE
Cornua jam vacuis honorumL
-
Ferrata nimbis praetereuntibusE
Ut incubent tandem implacido saliG
Qui curvat oras Tu FalernumL
Prome dapes strue dic coronentH
-
Crateras ignis cor solidum gravesE
Repone truncos Jamque doloribusE
Loquare securus fugatisE
Quae socio loquereris illoG

Hunc dedicamus laetitiae diemL
Lyraeque musisque Illius illiusE
Da quicquid audit nec silebuntH
Qui numeri placuere vivoM
