I yearn for the UnattainableA
For a glimpse of a brighter dayB
When hatred and strifeC
With their legions rifeC
Shall forever have passed awayB
When pain shall ceaseD
And the dawn of peaceD
Come down from heaven aboveE
And man can meet his fellow manF
In the spirit of Christian LoveE

I yearn for the UnattainableA
For a Voice that may long be stillG
To compel the mindH
As heaven designedH
To work the Eternal WillG
When the brute that sleepsI
In the heart's still deepsI
Will be changed to Pity's doveE
And man can meet his fellow manF
In the spirit of Perfect LoveE
