The Swallows Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABB CDCDE

I asked the first stray swallow of the springA
Where hast thou been through all the winter drearB
Beneath what distant skies did'st fold thy wingA
Since thou wast with us hereB
When Autumn's withered leaves foretold the passing yearB
-
And it replied Whither has Fancy ledC
The plumy thoughts that circle through thy brainD
Like birds about some mountain's lofty headC
Singing a sweet refrainD
There without bound I've been and must return againE
