The April Snow-storm - 1858 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EBEB AFAF ABAB CDCD AGAG

Spread lightly virgin showerA
Your winding sheet of snowB
Winter has lost his powerA
But mock not at his woeB
-
Fall not so cold and bleakC
Nor blow the breath of scornD
Gently Thy sire is weakC
And thou his latest bornD
-
Frail type of life thou artE
At first pure as the snowB
We come abide departE
What more th' Immortals knowB
-
Fall gently virgin showerA
Though wild the west wind ravesF
Watch through this midnight hourA
Above the new made gravesF
-
-
-
Spread gently virgin showerA
Your winding sheet of snowB
My heart has lost its powerA
But mock not at its woeB
-
Fall not so cold and bleakC
Treat not her corse with scornD
Gently My heart is weakC
She too was April bornD
-
Fall gently virgin showerA
The heart once strong and braveG
Hath lost its wonted powerA
'Tis buried in her graveG
