Sonnet: - Xxii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCACBDEFBEEEE| Dark dismal day the first of many such | A |
| The wind is sighing through the plaintive trees | B |
| In fitful gusts of a half frenzied woe | C |
| Affrighted clouds the hand might almost touch | A |
| Their black wings bend so mournfully and low | C |
| Sweep through the skies like night winds o'er the seas | B |
| There is no chirp of bird through all the grove | D |
| Save that of the young fledgeling rudely flung | E |
| From its warm nest and like the clouds above | F |
| My soul is dark and restless as the breeze | B |
| That leaps and dances over Couchiching | E |
| Soon will the last duett be sweetly sung | E |
| But through the years to come our hearts will ring | E |
| With memories as dear as time and love can bring | E |
