Sonnet: - Xvi Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEEFGFG| My footsteps press where centuries ago | A |
| The Red Men fought and conquered lost and won | B |
| Whole tribes and races gone like last year's snow | A |
| Have found the Eternal Hunting Grounds and run | B |
| The fiery gauntlet of their active days | C |
| Till few are left to tell the mournful tale | D |
| And these inspire us with such wild amaze | C |
| They seem like spectres passing down a vale | D |
| Steeped in uncertain moonlight on their way | E |
| Towards some bourn where darkness blinds the day | E |
| And night is wrapped in mystery profound | F |
| We cannot lift the mantle of the past | G |
| We seem to wander over hallowed ground | F |
| We scan the trail of Thought but all is overcast | G |
