Sonnet: - Xv Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCADCDAAAAAA

Last night I heard the plaintive whippoorwillA
And straightway Sorrow shot his swiftest dartB
I know not why but it has chilled my heartB
Like some dread thing of evil All night longC
My nerves were shaken and my pulse stood stillA
And waited for a terror yet to comeD
To strike harsh discords through my life's sweet songC
Sleep came an incubus that filled the sumD
Of wretchedness with dreams so wild and chillA
The sweat oozed from me like great drops of gallA
An evil spirit kept my mind in thrallA
And rolled my body up like a poor scrollA
On which is written curses that the soulA
Shrinks back from when it sees some hellish carnivalA
