| And lead a life as happy as a child's | A |
| Echo should tremble with unfeigned affright | B |
| And mock its own weird answers I would kiss | C |
| Eliza's cheek and touch her lips with dew | B |
| Stol'n from the scented rose And Carrie's laugh | D |
| Should be a portion of the silver rills' | C |
| Sweet music breathed mellifluously through | B |
| The hearts of generations She should quaff | D |
| The nectar of inspired song and thrills | C |
| Of sweet remembrances of her should strew | B |
| The woodland air as sand grains strew the shore | E |
| And these two hearts should be my joy for evermore | E |
