Love And Truth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCB DEDEFFE GHGHIIH JKJKLLK MKMKNNK OJOJPPJ

Young Love sat in a rosy bowerA
Towards the close of a summer dayB
At the evening's dusky hourA
Truth bent her blessed steps that wayB
Over her faceC
Beaming a graceC
Never bestowed on child of clayB
-
Truth looked on with an ardent joyD
Wondering Love could grow so tiredE
Hovering o'er him she kissed the boyD
When with a sudden impulse firedE
Exquisite painsF
Burning his veinsF
Wildly he woke as one inspiredE
-
Eagerly Truth embraced the godG
Filling his soul with a sense divineH
Rightly he knew the paths she trodG
Springing from heaven's royal lineH
Far had he strayedI
From his guardian maidI
Perilling all for his rash designH
-
Still as they went the tricksy youthJ
Wandered afar from the maiden fairK
Many a plot he laid in soothJ
Wherein the maid could have no shareK
Sowing his seedsL
Bringing forth weedsL
Seldom a rose and many a tareK
-
Save when the maiden was by his sideM
Love was erratic and rarely trueK
When she smiled on the graceful brideM
Over the old world rose the newK
Into life's skiesN
Blending her dyesN
Fairer than those of the rainbow's hueK
-
Sunny eyed maidens whom Love decoysO
Mark well the arts of the wayward youthJ
Sorrows he bringeth disguised as joysO
Rose hued delights with cores of ruthJ
Learn to believeP
Love will deceiveP
Save when he comes with his guardian TruthJ
