Gertrude Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCDEAAB FFBCCDEFFB

Underneath the maple treeA
Gertrude worked her filigreeA
All the summer longB
To sweet airs her voice was wedC
As she plied her golden threadC
Echo stealing through the groveD
Filched away the words of loveE
And the birds from tree to treeA
Bore the witching melodyA
Through avenues of SongB
-
Underneath the maple treesF
Zephyrs chant her melodiesF
All the summer longB
Words and airs no longer wedC
Death has snapped the vocal threadC
Echo sleeping in the groveD
Dreams of liquid airs of loveE
And the birds among the treesF
Fill with sweetest symphoniesF
Whole avenues of SongB
