Brock Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCDDB EFFFFE GHHHHG IJJJJI FKKLKF MNNNNM

OCTOBER THA
-
One voice one people one in heartB
And soul and feeling and desireC
Re light the smouldering martial fireC
Sound the mute trumpet strike the lyreD
The hero deed can not expireD
The dead still play their partB
-
Raise high the monumental stoneE
A nation's fealty is theirsF
And we are the rejoicing heirsF
The honored sons of sires whose caresF
We take upon us unawaresF
As freely as our ownE
-
We boast not of the victoryG
But render homage deep and justH
To his to their immortal dustH
Who proved so worthy of their trustH
No lofty pile nor sculptured bustH
Can herald their degreeG
-
No tongue need blazon forth their fameI
The cheers that stir the sacred hillJ
Are but mere promptings of the willJ
That conquered then that conquers stillJ
And generations yet shall thrillJ
At Brock's remembered nameI
-
Some souls are the HesperidesF
Heaven sends to guard the golden ageK
Illuming the historic pageK
With records of their pilgrimageL
True Martyr Hero Poet SageK
And he was one of theseF
-
Each in his lofty sphere sublimeM
Sits crowned above the common throngN
Wrestling with some Pythonic wrongN
In prayer in thunder thought or songN
Briarcus limbed they sweep alongN
The Typhons of the timeM
