O what a joyous joyous dayA
Is that on which we comeB
At the recess from school awayA
Each lad to his own homeC
-
-
What though the coach is cramm d fullD
The weather very warmE
Think you a boy of us is dullF
Or feels the slightest harmG
-
-
The dust and sun is life and funH
The hot and sultry weatherI
A higher zest gives every breastJ
Thus jumbled all togetherI
-
-
Sometimes we laugh aloud aloudK
Sometimes huzzah huzzahL
Who is so buoyant free and proudK
As we home travellers areM
-
-
But sad but sad is every ladN
That day on which we comeB
That last last day on which awayA
We all come from our homeC
-
-
The coach too full is found to beO
Why is it cramm d thusL
Now every one can plainly seeO
There's not half room for usL
-
-
Soon we exclaim O shame O shameP
This hot and sultry weatherI
Who but our master is to blameP
Who packed us thus togetherI
-
-
Now dust and sun does every oneH
Most terribly annoyQ
Complaints begun soon every oneH
Elbows his neighbour boyQ
-
-
Not now the joyous laugh goes roundR
We shout not now huzzahL
A sadder group may not be foundR
Than we returning areM
