Blindness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFAG HIH CJKJ L MN

In a stage coach where late I chanced to beA
A little quiet girl my notice caughtB
I saw she looked at nothing by the wayC
Her mind seemed busy on some childish thoughtD
-
-
I with an old man's courtesy addressedE
The child and called her pretty dark eyed maidF
And bid her turn those pretty eyes and seeA
The wide extended prospect 'Sir ' she saidG
-
-
'I cannot see the prospect I am blind '-
Never did tongue of child utter a soundH
So mournful as her words fell on my earI
Her mother then related how she foundH
-
-
Her child was sightless On a fine bright dayC
She saw her lay her needlework asideJ
And as on such occasions mothers willK
For leaving off her work began to chideJ
-
-
'I'll do it when 'tis daylight if you pleaseL
I cannot work mamma now it is night '-
The sun shone bright upon her when she spokeM
And yet her eyes received no ray of lightN
