As When A Child... Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDDCECFCGG

As when a child on some long winter's nightA
Affrighted clinging to its Grandam's kneesB
With eager wond'ring and perturbed delightA
Listens strange tales of fearful dark decreesB
Muttered to wretch by necromantic spellC
Or of those hags who at the witching timeD
Of murky midnight ride the air sublimeD
And mingle foul embrace with fiends of HellC
Cold Horror drinks its blood Anon the tearE
More gentle starts to hear the Beldame tellC
Of pretty babes that loved each other dearF
Murdered by cruel Uncle's mandate fellC
Ev'n such the shiv'ring joys thy tones impartG
Ev'n so thou Siddons meltest my sad heartG
