Palinodia Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF GHIJKLMNOPQMRMOS MNIMTUVWMNXMVYZA2V

Ye mountains on whose torrent furrowed slopesA
And bare and silent brows uplift to heavenB
I envied oft the soul which fills your wastesC
Of pure and stern sublime and still expanseD
Unbroken by the petty incidentsE
Of noisy life Oh hear me once againF
-
Winds upon whose racked eddies far aloftG
Above the murmur of the uneasy worldH
My thoughts in exultation held their wayI
Whose tremulous whispers through the rustling gladeJ
Were once to me unearthly tones of loveK
Joy without object wordless music stealingL
Through all my soul until my pulse beat fastM
With aimless hope and unexpressed desireN
Thou sea who wast to me a prophet deepO
Through all thy restless waves and wasting shoresP
Of silent labour and eternal changeQ
First teacher of the dense immensityM
Of ever stirring life in thy strange formsR
Of fish and shell and worm and oozy weedM
To me alike thy frenzy and thy sleepO
Have been a deep and breathless joy Oh hearS
-
Mountains and winds and waves take back your childM
Upon thy balmy bosom Mother NatureN
Where my young spirit dreamt its years awayI
Give me once more to nestle I have strayedM
Far through another world which is not thineT
Through sunless cities and the weary hauntsU
Of smoke grimed labour and foul revelryV
My flagging wing has swept A mateless bird'sW
My pilgrimage has been through sin and doubtM
And darkness seeking love Oh hear me NatureN
Receive me once again but not aloneX
No more alone Great Mother I have broughtM
One who has wandered yet not sinned like meV
Upon thy lap twin children let us lieY
And in the light of thine immortal eyesZ
Let our souls mingle till The Father callsA2
To some eternal home the charge He gives theeV
