THE QUEEN sat in her balconyA
The Loveliest of SpainB
Beneath rode all the chivalryA
And roses fell like rainB
To crown the gallant gentlemenC
The gonfalon who boreD
A woman s favor fell for oneE
Gil the ToreadorD
-
Beneath the royal canopyA
To see the red bull slainB
They sat like loyal loversF
The King and Queen of SpainB
Came marshal noble knight and squireD
Chulo and picadorD
Of all a woman saw but oneE
Gil the ToreadorD
-
The trumpets clanged the sport was onG
The royal sport of SpainB
Maddened by shouts and thrust of lanceH
The bull now charged amainB
Down to their death went chulos thenB
And many a matadorD
A woman only knew there fellI
Gil the ToreadorD
-
When through the streets of proud MadridJ
Swept next the courtly trainB
Sat not upon her balconyB
The Loveliest of SpainB
Long live the King and his fair QueenB
Still loyal thousands roarD
None know what woman died when fellI
Gil the ToreadorD
