O lord he said Japanese womenA
real women they have not forgottenA
bowing and smilingB
closing the wounds men have madeC
but American women will kill you like theyD
tear a lampshadeC
American women care less than a dimeE
they ve gotten derailedC
they re too nervous to make goodC
always scowling belly achingB
disillusioned overwroughtC
but oh lord say the Japanese womenA
there was this oneA
I came home and the door was lockedC
and when I broke in she broke out the bread knifeF
and chased me under the bedC
and her sister cameG
and they kept me under that bed for two daysH
and when I came out at lastC
she didn t mention attorneysI
just said you will never wrong me againJ
and I didn t but she died on meK
and dying said you can wrong me nowL
and I didC
but you know I felt worse thenJ
than when she was livingB
there was no voice no knifeF
nothing but little Japanese prints on the wallM
all those tiny people sitting by red riversN
with flying green birdsO
and I took them down and put them face downP
in a drawer with my shirtsQ
and it was the first time I realizedC
that she was dead even though I buried herR
and some day I ll take them all out againJ
all the tan faced little peopleS
sitting happily by their bridges and hutsT
and mountainsU
but not right nowL
not just yetC
