the nights change newG

we drive to Baskin RobbinsI

Rocky Road Bubble Gum Apricot Ice StrawberryK
Cheesecake Chocolate MintL

we park outside and look at icecreamM
peopleA
a very healthy and satisfied peopleA
nary a potential suicide in sightD
they probably even voteN
and I tell herC
what if the boys saw me go in there suppose theyO
find out I'm going in for a walnut peach sundaeO
come on chicken she laughs and we go inP
and stand with the icecream peopleA
none of them are cursing or threateningQ
the clerksR
there seem to be no hangovers orS
grievancesT
I am alarmed at the placid and calm waveU
that flows about I feel like a leper in aV
beauty contest we finally get our sundaes andE
sit in the car and eat themM

I must admit they are quite good a curious newG
world all my friends tell me I am lookingQ
better you're looking good man we thought youG
were going to die there for a whileW
those dark nights the jails theV
hospitalsX

and later that nightD
there is use for the pecker use forS
love and it is gloriousY
long and trueG
and afterwards we speak of easy thingsZ
our heads by the open window with the moonlightD
looking through we sleep in each other'sJ
