I reached up into the top of the closetA
and took out a pair of blue pantiesB
and showed them to her andC
asked 'are these yours 'D
and she looked and saidE
'no those belong to a dog 'D
she left after that and I haven't seenF
her since she's not at her placeG
I keep going there leaving notes stuckH
into the door I go back and the notesI
are still there I take the Maltese crossJ
cut it down from my car mirror tie itK
to her doorknob with a shoelace leaveL
a book of poemsM
when I go back the next night everythingN
is still thereO
I keep searching the streets for thatP
blood wine battleship she drivesQ
with a weak battery and the doorsR
hanging from broken hingesS
I drive around the streetsT
an inch away from weepingN
ashamed of my sentimentality andC
possible loveU
a confused old man driving in the rainV
wondering where the good luckH
wentW
