Wandering Gypsies Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EEF GGF

The prophetic tribe with burning eyesA
yesterday took to the highway carryingB
children slung on their backs or offeringB
proud hunger the breast's ever ripe prizeA
-
The men go on foot with shining weaponsC
by the carts where their folk huddle togetherD
sweeping the heavens eyes grown heavierD
with mournful regret for absent visionsC
-
The cricket deep in his sandy retreatE
redoubles his call on seeing their passing feetE
Cybele who loves them re leafs the gladesF
-
makes the rocks gush the desert bloomG
before these voyagers thrown wide to whomG
is the intimate kingdom of future shadesF
