The Sadness Of The Moon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGF GHH

THE Moon more indolently dreams to nightA
Than a fair woman on her couch at restB
Caressing with a hand distraught and lightA
Before she sleeps the contour of her breastB
-
Upon her silken avalanche of downC
Dying she breathes a long and swooning sighD
And watches the white visions past her flownE
Which rise like blossoms to the azure skyD
-
And when at times wrapped in her languor deepF
Earthward she lets a furtive tear drop flowG
Some pious poet enemy of sleepF
-
Takes in his hollow hand the tear of snowG
Whence gleams of iris and of opal startH
And hides it from the Sun deep in his heartH
