Incompatibility Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFGFHIJIKLKM NONEPQRQ

Higher there higher far from the waysA
from the farms and the valleys beyond the treesB
beyond the hills and the grasses hazeA
far from the herd trampled tapestriesB
you discover a sombre pool in the deepC
that a few bare snow covered mountains formD
The lake in light s and night s sublime sleepC
is never disturbed in its silent stormD
In that mournful waste to the unsure earE
come faint drawn out sounds more dead than the bellF
of some far off cow the echoes unclearG
as it grazes the slope of a distant dellF
On those hills where the wind effaces all signsH
on those glaciers fired by the sun s pure lightI
on those rocks where dizziness threatens the mindJ
in that lake s vermilion presage of nightI
under my feet and above my headK
silence that makes you wish to escapeL
that eternal silence of the mountainous bedK
of motionless air where everything waitsM
You would say that the sky in its lonelinessN
gazed at itself in the glass and up thereO
the mountains listened in grave watchfulnessN
to the mystery nothing that s human can hearE
And when by chance a wandering cloudP
darkens the silent lake moving byQ
you might think that you saw some spirit s robeR
or else its clear shadow travelling over the skyQ
