Her Hair Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CDEEF GHGIJ KFLMF INIIN OPQRP BGISG

O fleece that down the neck waves to the napeA
O curls O perfume nonchalant and rareB
O ecstasy To fill this alcove shapeA
With memories that in these tresses sleepA
I would shake them like penions in the airB
-
Languorous Asia burning AfricaC
And a far world defunct almost absentD
Within your aromatic forest stayE
As other souls on music drift awayE
Mine O my love still floats upon your scentF
-
I shall go there where full of sap both treeG
And man swoon in the heat of the southern climatesH
Strong tresses be the swell that carries meG
I dream upon your sea of amberI
Of dazzling sails of oarsmen masts and flamesJ
-
A sun drenched and reverberating portK
Where I imbibe colour and sound and scentF
Where vessels gliding through the gold and moirL
Open their vast arms as they leave the shoreM
To clasp the pure and shimmering firmamentF
-
I'll plunge my head enamored of its pleasureI
In this black ocean where the other hidesN
My subtle spirit then will know a measureI
Of fertile idleness and fragrant leisureI
Lulled by the infinite rhythm of its tidesN
-
Pavilion of autumn shadowed tresses spunO
You give me back the azure from afarP
And where the twisted locks are fringed with downQ
Lurk mingled odors I grow drunk uponR
Of oil of coconut of musk and tarP
-
A long time always my hand in your hairB
Will sow the stars of sapphire pearl rubyG
That you be never deaf to my desireI
My oasis and my gourd whence I aspireS
To drink deep of the wine of memoryG
