De Profundis Clamavi Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA BCCB DED EFF

Have pity You alone whom I adoreA
From down this black pit where my heart is spedB
A sombre universe ringed round with leadB
Where fear and curses the long night exploreA
-
Six months a cold sun hovers overheadB
The other six is night upon this landC
No beast no stream no wood no leaves expandC
The desert Pole is not a waste so deadB
-
Now in the whole world there's no horror quiteD
so cold and cruel as this glacial sunE
So like old Chaos as this boundless nightD
-
I envy the least animals that runE
Which can find respite in brute slumber drownedF
So slowly is the skein of time unwoundF
