Autumn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHHG FIJI

Soon we will plunge ourselves into cold shadowsA
And all of summer's stunning afternoons will be goneB
I already hear the dead thuds of logs belowC
Falling on the cobblestones and the lawnB
-
All of winter will return to meD
derision Hate shuddering horror drudgery and viceE
And exiled like the sun to a polar prisonF
My soul will harden into a block of red iceE
-
I shiver as I listen to each log crash and slamG
The echoes are as dull as executioners' drumsH
My mind is like a tower that slowly succumbsH
To the blows of a relentless battering ramG
-
It seems to me swaying to these shocks that someoneF
Is nailing down a coffin in a hurry somewhereI
For whom It was summer yesterday now it's autumnJ
Echoes of departure keep resounding in the airI
