When Poor In All But Hope And Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGFGDEDE HIJIDEDE

WHEN poor in all but hope and loveA
I clasped thee to my faithful heartB
For wealth and fame I vowed to roveC
That we might meet no more to partB
Years have gone by long weary yearsD
Of toil to win thee comfort nowE
Of ardent hopes of sickening fearsD
And wealth is mine but where art thouE
-
Fame's dazzling dreams for thy dear sakeF
Rose brighter than before to meG
I clung to all I deemed could makeF
My burning heart more worthy theeG
Years have gone by the laurel droopsD
In mockery o'er my joyless browE
A conquered world before me stoopsD
And Fame is mine but where art thouE
-
In life's first hours despised and loneH
I wandered through the busy crowdI
But now that life's best hopes are goneJ
They greet with pride and murmurs loudI
Oh for thy voice thy happy voiceD
To breathe its laughing welcome nowE
Wealth fame and all that should rejoiceD
To me are vain for where art thouE
