The Lost One Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFAGHIJKFLMANO PQRSBFTUSVKWOKXGMYCOME to the grave the silent grave and dream | A |
Of a light happy voice so full of joy | B |
That those who heard her laugh would laugh again | C |
Echoing the mirth of such an innocent spirit | D |
And pause in their own converse to look round | E |
Won by the witchery of that gleesome tone | F |
Come to the grave the lone dark grave and dream | A |
Of eyes whose brilliancy was of the soul | G |
Eyes which with one bright flash from their dark lids | H |
Seemed at a glance to read the thoughts of others | I |
Or with a full entire tenderness | J |
The pure expression of all perfect love | K |
Of woman's love which is for you alone | F |
While your's is for yourself gave in that look | L |
The promise of a life of meek affection | M |
Come to the grave the mouldering grave and dream | A |
Of a fair form that glided over earth | N |
One of its happiest creatures to her cheek | O |
- | |
The lightest word might bring the blushing blood | P |
In pure carnation down her graceful neck | Q |
The long rich curls of jet hung carelessly | R |
Untortured by the cunning hand of art | S |
And on her brow bright purity and joy | B |
Twin sisters sate as on a holy throne | F |
Come yet unto the grave the still damp grave | T |
And dream of a young heart that beat with life | U |
And all life's best affections of a heart | S |
Where sorrow never came nor fear nor sin | V |
Nor aught save innocence and perfect love | K |
And having dreamed of such a lovely being | W |
So gay so bright so pure so fond so meek | O |
Having thus conjured up a form of love | K |
In thine own pausing and regretful mind | X |
A vision will be present to thy soul | G |
A faint but faithful portraiture of one | M |
Most dearly loved and now for ever lost | Y |
