IMRA thy form is vanishedA
From the proud and patriot bandB
Imra thy voice is silentC
'Mongst the voices of the landB
And bravely hast thou fallenD
In joy didst thou departE
Their chains shall never bind theeF
Young hero of my heartE
-
But with thee the dream is overG
That bound my soul so longH
And the words of fame and gloryF
Have vanished from my songH
My heart which bounded proudlyF
Is as sad as sad can beF
I thought it beat for freedomI
But I feel it beat for theeF
-
I thought the victory's triumphJ
Would have made my soul rejoiceK
But that was when I listenedL
To the music of thy voiceK
The dreams of fame and conquestM
Of my country being freeF
What love were they to ZoK
But most blessed dreams of theeF
-
It is past thy voice may neverG
Speak of triumph or of loveN
And the bright hope that was burningO
Hath flown with thee aboveN
This earth contains no dwellingO
No land of rest for meF
When Hellas was my countryF
I dwelt in it with theeF
