Sonnet Xi Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEGHHGREEN avenue whose shadow dim and sweet | A |
Pleasantly shelter'd me in days of yore | B |
Dear lost companion whose slow pacing feet | A |
Then wander'd with me on that moss paved floor | B |
Still like a natural temple spring those trees | C |
Their column'd stems high arching over head | D |
Still dost THOU love while sighs the murmuring breeze | C |
At Summer eve that velvet path to tread | D |
Then gentle friend in whose unworldly eyes | E |
And on whose calm serene expressive brow | F |
The light of many a prayer reflected lies | E |
As thou with Heaven didst constant commune know | G |
Though in this world divided we must be | H |
Kneel in that quiet spot and pray to God for ME | H |
