Sonnet Xi Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEGHH| GREEN avenue whose shadow dim and sweet | A |
| Pleasantly shelter'd me in days of yore | B |
| Dear lost companion whose slow pacing feet | A |
| Then wander'd with me on that moss paved floor | B |
| Still like a natural temple spring those trees | C |
| Their column'd stems high arching over head | D |
| Still dost THOU love while sighs the murmuring breeze | C |
| At Summer eve that velvet path to tread | D |
| Then gentle friend in whose unworldly eyes | E |
| And on whose calm serene expressive brow | F |
| The light of many a prayer reflected lies | E |
| As thou with Heaven didst constant commune know | G |
| Though in this world divided we must be | H |
| Kneel in that quiet spot and pray to God for ME | H |
