Sonnet V Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGG| BECAUSE I know that there is that in me | A |
| Of which thou shouldst be proud and not ashamed | B |
| Because I feel one made thy choice should be | A |
| Not even by fools and slanderers rashly blamed | B |
| Because I fear howe'er thy soul may strive | C |
| Against the weakness of that inward pain | D |
| The falsehoods which my enemies contrive | C |
| Not always seek to wound thine ear in vain | D |
| Therefore I sometimes weep when I should smile | E |
| At all the vain frivolity and sin | F |
| Which those who know me not yet me revile | E |
| My would be judges cast my actions in | F |
| But else their malice hath nor sting nor smart | G |
| For I appeal from them Beloved to thine own heart | G |
