Hesperus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCB DEDEFE GDGDHD GIGIJI HKHKDK IDIDLD ADADMD

Through the starry hollowA
Of the summer nightB
I would follow followA
Hesperus the brightB
To seek beyond the western waveC
His garden of delightB
-
Hesperus the fairestD
Of all gods that areE
Peace and dreams thou bearestD
In thy shadowy carE
And often in my evening walksF
I've blessed thee from afarE
-
Stars without numberG
Dust the noon of nightD
Thou the early slumberG
And the still delightD
Of the gentle twilit hoursH
Rulest in thy rightD
-
When the pale skies shiverG
Seeing night is doneI
Past the ocean riverG
Lightly thou dost runI
To look for pleasant sleepy landsJ
That never fear the sunI
-
Where beyond the watersH
Of the outer seaK
Thy triple crown of daughtersH
That guards the golden treeK
Sing out across the lonely tideD
A welcome home to theeK
-
And while the old old dragonI
For joy lifts up his headD
They bring thee forth a flagonI
Of nectar foaming redD
And underneath the drowsy treesL
Of poppies strew thy bedD
-
Ah that I could followA
In thy footsteps brightD
Through the starry hollowA
Of the summer nightD
Sloping down the western waysM
To find my heart's delightD
