Drifted Apart Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFG HIJKL AMNOB PQKRST

Once upon a time we were closeA
The best of friends we wereB
Now we aren'tC
The memories we once shared are nothingD
But a sheer pipe dreamE
That never existedF
A dream it was indeedG
-
The smiles the joy and everything elseH
That we shared seem to exist in a time capsuleI
A time capsule that we can t escapeJ
So close and yet so far awayK
We drifted away from each other like bobbins in an oceanL
-
Sometimes I wonder would we still be closeA
Had we not drifted apartM
Would we really vouch for each other if it came down to itN
Or would we act like total strangersO
Strangers we are now yet it still feels familiarB
-
Once upon a timeP
We were each other s rockQ
But that rock has been washed awayK
Like tears being wiped off someone s faceR
Indeed we lost what once wasS
As the years went byT
