Your Picture Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IJIK CLCL MNMN OPJP QORJ STUT VWXNIt's with your laughing picture that I'm living now | A |
You whose wrists are so slender and crackle at the joints | B |
You who wring your hands yet are unwilling to go | C |
You whose guests stay for hours sharing sadness and joys | D |
- | |
You who'll run from the cards and Rakoczy bravura | E |
From the glass of the drawing room and from the guests | F |
To the keyboard on fire unable to endure | G |
Bones and roses and dice and rosettes and the rest | H |
- | |
You will fluff up your hair and a reckless tea rose | I |
Smelling of cigarettes pin to your bright red sash | J |
And then waltz to your glory your sadness and woes | I |
Tossing off like a scarf beaming breathless and flushed | K |
- | |
You will crumple the skin of an orange and swallow | C |
Cooling morsels again and again in your haste | L |
To return to the hall to the whirling and mellow | C |
Lights and air with the sweet sweat of fresh waltzes laced | L |
- | |
Defying steam and scorching breath | M |
The way a whirlwind dies | N |
The way a murid faces death | M |
With wide unflinching eyes | N |
- | |
Know all not mountains' noise and hush | O |
And not a purebred steed | P |
The reckless roses in your sash | J |
Are riding at full speed | P |
- | |
No not the clatter of the hoofs | Q |
And not the mountains' hush | O |
But only she who stands aloof | R |
With flowers in her sash | J |
- | |
And only that is really It | S |
What makes our ears ring | T |
And what the whirlwind chasing feet | U |
Soul tulle and silk sash bring | T |
- | |
Until sides split the jokes are cracked | V |
We're rolling in the aisles | W |
The envy of the romping sacks | X |
Until somebody cries | N |
