Your Picture Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IJIK CLCL MNMN OPJP QORJ STUT VWXN

It's with your laughing picture that I'm living nowA
You whose wrists are so slender and crackle at the jointsB
You who wring your hands yet are unwilling to goC
You whose guests stay for hours sharing sadness and joysD
-
You who'll run from the cards and Rakoczy bravuraE
From the glass of the drawing room and from the guestsF
To the keyboard on fire unable to endureG
Bones and roses and dice and rosettes and the restH
-
You will fluff up your hair and a reckless tea roseI
Smelling of cigarettes pin to your bright red sashJ
And then waltz to your glory your sadness and woesI
Tossing off like a scarf beaming breathless and flushedK
-
You will crumple the skin of an orange and swallowC
Cooling morsels again and again in your hasteL
To return to the hall to the whirling and mellowC
Lights and air with the sweet sweat of fresh waltzes lacedL
-
Defying steam and scorching breathM
The way a whirlwind diesN
The way a murid faces deathM
With wide unflinching eyesN
-
Know all not mountains' noise and hushO
And not a purebred steedP
The reckless roses in your sashJ
Are riding at full speedP
-
No not the clatter of the hoofsQ
And not the mountains' hushO
But only she who stands aloofR
With flowers in her sashJ
-
And only that is really ItS
What makes our ears ringT
And what the whirlwind chasing feetU
Soul tulle and silk sash bringT
-
Until sides split the jokes are crackedV
We're rolling in the aislesW
The envy of the romping sacksX
Until somebody criesN
