The Patient's Sweater Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDD DEFD GHGH

A life of its own and a long one is ledA
By this penguin with nothing to do with the breastB
The wingless pullover the patient's old vestB
Now pass it some warmth move the lamp to the bedA
-
It dreams of the skiing in darkness it pouredC
From shaftbows from harness from bodies it seemedD
That Christmas itself also sweated and snoredD
The walking the riding all squeaked and all steamedD
-
A homestead and horror and bareness besideD
Cut glass in the sideboards and carpets and chestsE
The house was inflamed this attracted the fenceF
The lights swam in pleurisy seen from outsideD
-
Consumed by the sky bloated shrubs on the wayG
Were white as a scare and had ice in their looksH
The blaze from the kitchen laid down by the sleighG
On the snow the enormous hands of the cooksH
