The muzzles of brash harpies leering | C |
Would puff wet white steam in our eyes | D |

A hug and a kiss brief and rough | F |
Farewell then my joy and my torment | G |
I'm going conductor I'm off | H |

And shunting bad weather and sleepers | I |
The west would break open I'd feel | J |
It grab me with snowflakes to keep me | K |
From falling down under the wheels | L |

A whistle dies down echoed weakly | K |
Another flies from distant tracks | M |
A train comes past bare platforms sweeping | C |
A blizzard of many hunched backs | M |

And twilight is rearing to go | C |
And lured by the smoke and the steam | N |
The wind and the field rush and now | O |
I wish I could be one of them | P |
