I shall wheeze out before I swoon | B |
You're not a tenor's shape and voice | C |
You're summer travelling third class | D |
You are a suburb not a tune | B |
- | |
You're a street as close as May | E |
You're a battlefield at night | F |
Where clouds groan loudly in dismay | E |
And scatter when dismissed in fright | F |
- | |
And splitting in the railway's lace | G |
That's outskirts not refrain and home | H |
They crawl back to their native place | G |
Without a song as if struck dumb | I |
- | |
The shower's offshoots stick in clusters | J |
Till break of day and all the time | K |
They scribble on the roofs acrostics | J |
And bubble up rhyme after rhyme | K |
- | |
All poetry is what you make it | L |
And even when the truism's not worth | M |
The rhyme the flow of verse is scared | N |
The notebook's open so flow forth | O |
