Mary Magdalene I Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACACA DEDEED FDFFD GHGGGH IHIIJH

As soon as night descends we meetA
Remorse my memories releasesB
The demons of the past competeA
And draw and tear my heart to piecesC
Sin vice and madness and deceitA
When I was slave of men's capricesC
And when my dwelling was the streetA
-
The deathly silence is not farD
A few more moments only matterE
Which the Inevitable barD
But at the edge before they scatterE
In front of Thee my life I shatterE
As though an alabaster jarD
-
O what might not have been my fateF
By now my Teacher and my SaviourD
Did not eternity awaitF
Me at the table as a lateF
New victim of my past behaviourD
-
But what can sin now mean to meG
And death and hell and sulphur burningH
When like a graft onto a treeG
I have for everyone to seeG
Grown into being part of TheeG
In my immeasurable yearningH
-
When pressed against my knees I placeI
Thy precious feet and weep despairingH
Perhaps I'm learning to embraceI
The cross's rough four sided faceI
And fainting all my being swaysJ
Towards Thee Thy burial preparingH
