July Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGF HIJI JKJL MNJN OPQP RSTS

A ghost is roaming through the buildingA
And shadows in the attic browseB
Persistently intent on mischiefC
A goblin roams about the houseD
-
He gets into your way he fussesE
You hear his footsteps overheadF
He tears the napkin off the tableG
And creeps in slippers to the bedF
-
With feet unwiped he rushes headlongH
On gusts of draught into the hallI
And whirls the curtain like a dancerJ
Towards the ceiling up the wallI
-
Who is this silly mischief makerJ
This phantom and this double faceK
He is our guest our summer lodgerJ
Who spends with us his holidaysL
-
Our house is taken in possessionM
By him while he enjoys a restN
July with summer air and thunderJ
He is our temporary guestN
-
July who scatters from his pocketsO
The fluff of blow balls in a cloudP
Who enters through the open windowQ
Who chatters to himself aloudP
-
Unkempt untidy absent mindedR
Soaked through with smell of dill and ryeS
With linden blossom grass and beet leavesT
The meadow scented month JulyS
