I also loved and the restless breathsA
Of sleeplessness fluttering through darknessB
Out of the park would downward driftC
To the ravine on to the archipelagoD
Of meadows sinking from sight amongE
Wormwood mint and quails beneath the wispy mistF
And the broad sweep of adoration's wing grewG
Heavy and drunken as though stung by shotH
Floundered into the air and shuddering fell shortI
Scattering across the fields as dewG
-
And then the dawn was breaking Till twoG
Rich jewels blinked in the incalculable skyJ
But then the cocks began to feel afraidK
Of darkness and strove to hide their frightL
But in their throats blank mines explodedM
As they strained fear's putrid voice eruptedN
As though by order as the constellations fadedM
A shepherd goggle eyed as though from snuffing candlesO
Made his appearance where the forest endedM
-
I also loved and she it well may beP
Is living yet The time will pass on byJ
Till something large as autumn one fine dayQ
If not tomorrow then perhaps some other timeR
Will blaze out over life like sunset's glow in pityP
For the thicket For the foolish puddle's tormentingS
Toadish thirst For the clearings trembling timidlyP
As hares their ears tight muffled in the wrappingS
Of last year's fallen leaves For the noise as thoughD
False waves are pounding on the shores of long agoD
I also loved and know as damp mown fieldsT
Are laid by the ages at each year's feetU
So the fevering newness of the worlds is laidK
By love at the bed head of every heartV
-
I also loved and she is living stillW
Cascading into that first earliness as everX
Time stands still vanishing away as it spillsY
Over the moment's edge Subtle as ever this boundaryP
Still as before how recent seems the long agoD
Time past streams from the faces of those who sawZ
Playing still its crazy tricks as if it did not knowD
It has no tenancy in our house any moreA2
Can it be so Does love really not lastB2
This momentary tribute of bright wondermentC2
But ever all our life recede into the pastB2
