It's a whistle blown ripe in a triceA
It's the cracking of ice in a galeB
It's a night that turns green leaves to iceA
It's a duel of two nightingalesA

It's the world's twinking tears in the podD
It is Figaro like hot hail hurledE
From the flutes on the wet flower bedF

It is all that the night hopes to findG
On the bottom of deep bathing poolsA
It's the star carried to the fish pondH
In your hands wet and trembling and coolI

This close air is as flat as the boardsA
In the pond The sky's flat on its faceA
It would be fun if these stars guffawedH
