After The Interval Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HGIG JKJK LGMG

About three months ago when firstA
Upon our open unprotectedB
And freezing garden snowstorms burstA
In sudden fury I reflectedC
-
That I would shut myself awayD
And in seclusion write a sectionE
Of winter poems day by dayD
To supplement my spring collectionE
-
But nonsense piled up mountain highF
Like snow drifts hindering and stiflingG
And half the winter had gone byF
Against all hopes in petty triflingG
-
I understood alas too lateH
Why winter while the snow was fallingG
Piercing the darkness with its flakesI
From outside at my house was callingG
-
And while with numb white frozen lipsJ
It whispered urging me to hurryK
I sharpened pencils played with clipsJ
Made feeble jokes and did not worryK
-
While at my desk I dawdled onL
By lamp light on an early morningG
The winter had appeared and goneM
A wasted and unheeded warningG
